What is Tongue & Groove Flooring?

Tongue and groove refer to the edges of the laminate planks. On one side of the plank the tongue sticks out past the wood, and on the other, there is a groove. The groove helps lock the tongue from another plank into place, keeping the joined boards from coming up. In order to properly install, the first plank will have the tongue edge pointed towards you as you lay it down.

Laminate Flooring Ratings and Grades

There is a standard set by the Association of European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF) that provides customers with a means to identify how various laminate flooring products can be used. The EPLF is an independent body that tests laminate flooring for stress resistance. The ratings / gradings are Abrasion Class (AC) and come in five levels. Any flooring that has a rating has passed each test, because a rating will not be given if any test is failed.
